ABOUT

The Document Bandit is owned and managed by Heather out of Albany, NY. The business was started as a freelance, part-time gig back in 2002, and was originally named "The Writing Bandit" in affiliation with the logo you see on the right.

In August of this year (2007), Heather was accepted as a qualified member of The Editorial Freelancers Association (EFA). EFA is a national not-for-profit —501(c)6— organization, headquartered in New York City. Its members, experienced in a wide range of professional skills, live and work in forty-five of the United States and in Canada, England, France, India, Ireland, Israel, and Japan.

Within the last ten years, Heather's love for technical writing and documentation has grown beyond your average technical manual. She realized she has a passion for the processes and procedures surrounding these documents, and has expanded her portfolio to incorporate this into her full-time business. Heather has been "in the industry" for more than ten years and has worked with several Fortune 500 businesses, government agencies, and sole-proprietorships. She has also lent her skills to designing simple documents such as a menu for her favorite local pub. Heather has worked as a Project Manager on several large documentation and process projects, so you can be sure your needs are in good hands from beginning to end.

In addition, Heather has experience with CMMi from the Software Engineering Institute, and has used their model for several process development and improvement projects.

When hiring Heather, you also receive the added benefit of two part-time programming contractors and a 19 year veteran of the technical writing world, who consult for her on an as-needed basis. She manages all of the paperwork and work-flow for these contractors so your interaction is seamless and minimal. There is nothing for you to do if their time and attention is required.
